World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers Across the United States, Canadian and Japanese Regions.

The nail-biting extended matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays 5-4 drew a combined 51M watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japan territories. MLB reported this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic finale since the 1991 showdown featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

The Saturday memorable contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It also is the most-watched Fall Classic game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew 29.07M. This marks a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, the fifth game came in eighth, and the third game finished in thirteenth place.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game recorded 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English-language program in Canada after the 2010 Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12 million. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six frames – averaged 13.1M spectators, making it the most-watched World Series game on a single network in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The full seven-game World Series averaged over 15.7 million audience members on the Fox network, a two percent increase from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees matchup. This represents the initial instance after 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has recorded audience growth for two straight years.

Including the opening game telecast on Univision, the complete US viewership was 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew over 8 million watchers, an eight percent increase over the previous year and the network’s strongest playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB stated that the Fall Classic was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in 16 various tongues.
