The Miami Heat scored eighty-six first-half scores against the Memphis Grizzlies

Miami Heat secured a crushing 146 to 114 victory over the Grizzlies in their first basketball match after player Rozier was detained over suspected illegal sports betting.

Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups was additionally arrested in connection with a sweeping FBI investigation into sports betting. Both men contest the allegations.

But, the Heat were focused as they recorded 86 first-half points to be ahead of the Grizzlies by thirty-nine at halftime, the largest halftime lead in the franchise's 37 year history.

Bam Adebayo top-scored with twenty-four scores and afterwards said Terry had the support of the team.

"We support him. Full support," Bam stated. "We are with him all the way. He's like family ultimately."

Heat coach Spoelstra added: "Terry is somebody who is important to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our team.

"Our thoughts are with him and support for him as he goes through this."

The Trail Blazers additionally won their initial match since the arrests, with Brazilian Tiago Splitter taking over as temporary head coach in Billups' absence and guiding the team to a decisive 139 to 119 win over the Golden State Warriors.

"Everyone experienced positive times with Chauncey and his coaching style," Splitter remarked. "We're thinking of him and his family but we have a job to do."

League Commissioner Silver 'Disturbed' by Recent Events

Speaking about the detentions for the first time, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was "deeply disturbed" by the incidents of the past few days.

"Nothing is more critical to the NBA and supporters than the integrity of the competition," he told Amazon Prime. "Therefore I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."

Silver further mentioned an NBA investigation into Rozier's conduct in March 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he participated for the Hornets against the New Orleans Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.

"We were informed by the authorities and the betting companies," he continued.

"We investigated the matter and were very transparent about it. And while there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, found no evidence.

"Federal authorities has legal authority... [it] can impose penalties, can do all kinds of things that the NBA can't do.

"Therefore, we've been working with them from that point. And, of course, what they revealed yesterday was an indictment.

"And 30 months later, he has not been found guilty of anything, in fairness to Rozier.

"Obviously, it doesn't look good, but he's been suspended, and so it is a balance in this case between protecting people's rights and investigating."
