Assassin's Creed Reveals Bizarre AoT Collaboration for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected partnership that defies usual forecasts, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the acclaimed anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Revealed
According to the formal release, "A mysterious encounter leads protagonists Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh adventure, where rumors of forbidden ceremonies and monstrous transformations reverberate through the obscurity." The storyline introduces a "unusually garbed woman named Ada" who tasks the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine sect.
The adventure centers on "strange trials and a fearsome adversary" and is open to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Locations and Metamorphoses
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was earlier where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser ends with a striking scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Additional Material
Players who accomplish the quest will acquire an exclusive katana together with several artifacts hidden throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-themed attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive weapons
- Survey Corps mount
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also brings the game's third free story episode, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe reveals a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Enigma" also features a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some unanswered questions from the main storyline.

This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series earlier featured a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly included a quest that clearly nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
