The Yuletide season present a plethora of pursuits far superior than scanning the headlines: opening presents, indulging in festive fare, and harnessing patience techniques to not yelling at family members. It is wished you were able to do all these things and more. However, the showbiz industry doesn't go on vacation, and this is particularly true for the realm of anime. Numerous noteworthy news items emerged during the festive period, and should you overlooked any, here is a summary of the juiciest bits.

The One-Punch Man Series Its Third Season Is Set to Continue (By 2027)

Truly the most surprising revelation, the much-discussed controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to stop further production. The show will be back with a subsequent part in 2027—so far away they easily could have labeled it season 4. Adding to the surprise, animation studio J.C. Staff will still be at the helm. At least this time, director Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the start, which could be taken as a good sign. But, the promotional image for the continuation is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This leads one to believe that, by now, they are probably teasing the fans.

Ruri Dragon Is Poised to Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime From Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has established a standing for being an elite animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the exceptional quality of its work but for the good working conditions of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had never worked on an anime adapted from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, possibly the most iconic magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will end that streak, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became massive popularity when it first appeared in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the author's health issues. When it returned with a more relaxed pace, the series proved it maintained the fans' affection and goodwill, and now the community is overjoyed about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.

As it happens that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in development, and it will probably premiere in 2026.
